The
intended audience of the article is for the people who agree with the Texas
campus carry law. Tyler Jones is a credible source because he is a student and he is able to argue his thought on the Texas campus carry law. The article “Why
I changed my mind on bringing guns to Texas colleges”
written by Tyler Jones a student at Stephen F. Austin State University, talks
about why gun carry on a college campus shouldn’t be allowed. He supported this
law until he became a college student and became aware of how safe it is to
allow gun carry on a college campus. He brings up the Las Vegas shooting and
the recent shooting at Texas Tech University which is what really opened up his
eyes to the Texas campus carry law. His logic for this is that kids get anxious
and stressed and they always have something going on up in their heads
sometimes it can be really negative things. If you give them the okay to carry
a gun on campus one day they might snap and the only thing they know to turn to
is their gun and we all know where that can lead too. I agree with Tyler
because I’m a college student and it scares me that maybe one day a student
might go crazy and turn to their gun and all I have to protect me is what I bring
to school: books. I grew up in a conservative family like Tyler, and I think it’s
fine to own a gun, but I do not agree with the Texas campus carry law for the sake of my own safety and others safety.
